Creating a quiz

A quiz is authored in its own editor, separate from any course. Creating one has two stages: set up the quiz's own page, then build its outline.

Add a new quiz

  1. Go to Tangible Quiz → Add New Quiz.
  2. You land on the Quiz Page tab.
  3. Enter a title.
  4. Use the block editor to write whatever the candidate should read before starting: instructions, exam rules, permitted materials.

The right sidebar carries the usual WordPress controls: status and visibility, publish date, and author under the Quiz tab, and block-level controls under Block.

Publish before building

The Builder tab needs a quiz that exists in the database, so publish (or save) the quiz page first. Opening the Builder on an unpublished quiz shows a message telling you to publish rather than an outline.

Quiz page content is not wasted if you hide it

Whatever you write here can be shown before the quiz, hidden once it starts, or shown throughout, controlled by Quiz page content under Appearance. Write the instructions properly even if you intend to hide them during the attempt.

The three tabs

TabWhat it is
Quiz PageThe quiz's public page: title, description, instructions, featured image.
BuilderThe outline: parts, sections, questions, and static content.
SettingsScoring, constraints, feedback, appearance, and labels. See the reference.

Nominate a default scorer

If the quiz will contain any question a computer cannot mark (extended text, file uploads) set Default scorer under Settings → Scoring before you go further. It is the user who will review those submissions.

Search for the user by name and select them, then Save Settings.
